Temple Ponds in Kerala

Large and small ponds are attached to Temples in Kerala. This is for worshippers to take a dip. Even traditional Brahmin 'Nalukettu' homes often have a Pond in the compound. A royal bath and swimming in the pond is a ritual in Kerala. An ayurvedic self massage with medicated oils and a refreshing dip in the pond is a must for the Brahmin males. The females apply either Turmeric paste or medicated oils on the body and wash their hair with coconut oil and specially formulated herbal oils for thicker and darker oil and a glowing skin.
