Athachamayam Parade of Onam festival in Kerala India

Athachamayam is the grand procession conducted on Atham day during Onam in Thripunithura, Cochin, Kerala. The carnival atmosphere is enjoyed by thousands of people who come to witness the colorful event. Caparisoned Elephants, Men painted to look like Tigers, Kathakali and Theyyam artists show off their talents, Girls dance and sing and entire crowd gets ready to celebrate Onam. The Maharaja or King arrives in his special 'Pallakku' or vehicle carried by his guards.
