Tapioca or Cassava Dishes from Kerala


People of Kerala cannot avoid Kappa or Tapioca from their menu. Cassava as it is known in other parts of the world, Kolli or Kappa as it is known in Kerala, is a hot favourite in home and in hotels and fast food joints through out Kerala. Tapioca is eaten by boiling it and the pieces are dipped in a chutney made of green chili, salt, shallots, coconut oil etc. It is also cut into small pieces and boiled along Onions, turmeric powder etc. to make a yellow curry. Tapioca is dipped in Fish curry and eaten. Sometimes fresh tapioca with skin is grilled in charcoal and eaten after removing the skin with spicy sauces or Chammanthy.
